Our Sailing Catalog:
For a long time - maybe two years - we didn't see Uncle
Bob at
all. If Mom or Dad knew where he was, they weren't talking. Then, one
late-August morning, he appeared as if he'd never been away and told me
to pack a bag - we were heading out to sea.
After getting the approval of one parent - I wasn't
going to
push my luck and try for two - we headed for the coast, top down, doing
85 all the way. At the marina, I stepped aboard, stowed my bag
and
attached a lifeline. Uncle Bob literally showed me the ropes and off we
sailed. Early that evening we anchored off the coast of some small
island and settled in for a hearty beef-stew-from-a-can dinner. It was
the best meal I'd ever had.
I've been sailing ever since and I think these items are
well-worth having out on the water.
Marine binoculars with compass - they float! These are excellent on the water because they're water proof, they won't fog up and don't have to worry if they fall overboard becasue they float. And best of all - thye have a compass built in!
